Once again a Turok is tasked with restoring peace to the land and stopping the Primagen from merging Earth with the nether world.įight your way through 35 different types of enemies with bouncing bellies, blinking eyes, stretching tentacles and snapping jaws. Unfortunately the blast awakens an even deadlier force – The Primagen. The really overpowered Scorpion launcher that shoots 3 homing rockets.Having defeated the Campaigner, Turok throws the Chronocepter into a waiting volcano to destroy it.

The flamethrower that makes quick work of insect type enemies. The Mag 60 (one of my favorite pistol ever) that shoot 3 bullets rapidly and explodes enemies head if aimed correctly. The charge dart riffle that paralyzes enemies so you can explode them with grenade launcher. Usually people remember Turok 2 for having one of the best FPS weapon ever, Cerebral bore, but several other weapons feel really good too. Some abilities let you find secrets or open shorcuts in late game that brings you back to familiar opening rooms a la Darks Souls. Also the game has some metroidvania aspects to it. I only used the map once in a underwater section. I dreaded Lair of the Blind Ones as I remember it being overly confusing but replaying it now and it feels very consistent. Every time I get to a new one I think it's my favorite. The levels are very distinct and each has their own atmosphere. And what an improvement over the first.Įverything feels so much better.

This week Turok 2 is on sale for gold members so I bought it.

The level design is very samey, the enemy AI was dumb and while the death animations were cool back then they felt overtly exaggerated.

I had fun with it but the flaws were pretty apparent. Last year I picked up Turok 1 remaster on xbox one. I was reluctant to get the remastered version cause I thought they would probably age horribly. I played Turok 1 and 2 to death on N64 more than 20 years ago and loved them.
